In order to offset the extraordinary challenges to the American Red Cross of South Carolina’s mission of responding to disasters due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Building Industry Charitable Foundation is donating $5,000 dollars to the American Red Cross to assist with critical relief efforts in Sumter.
This gift will help at this uniquely critical moment in our state and nation. The Red Cross of South Carolina responds to, on average, six home fires a day across the state along with other local disasters. Our teams are able to provide assistance for immediate needs like food, shelter and clothing because of support from partners like The Building Industry Charitable Foundation. In addition, the 2020 Hurricane Season has begun, and experts are predicting a very busy season. As the American Red Cross of South Carolina works to prepare for disasters of any kind, this gift and partnership will help us meet the needs of the communities in Sumter.
“This has been a very difficult time for everyone in South Carolina as we adapt to this COVID-19 environment and continue to prepare and respond to disasters big and small” said Rebecca Jordan, the Executive Director of the Central Chapter of the Red Cross of South Carolina. “We are so appreciative to The Building Industry Charitable Foundation and their generous donation that allows us to support local communities, every day.”
