The purpose of this job shadow is to provide students an authentic learning experience that allows them to observe and engage in the construction industry. Participating students will be at least 16 years of age, and a sophomore in high school. These students have expressed an interest in learning more about career opportunities in construction such as masonry, carpentry, HVAC, mechanical engineering, project management, etc. Students will provide their own transportation. For liability purposes, students are covered by their school district’s insurance policy while they participate in extended learning opportunities during the school day. Job shadow experiences should last at least 3 hours or length of the school day, 8:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Job shadow assignments will be announced via e-mail by Friday, October 4, 2019. MEBA will work with the BIA of CSC, ABC Carolinas, NAWIC, Carolinas AGC and other industry professionals to coordinate these extended learning opportunities and place students on a first come basis, taking into consideration their regional location and area of interest (HVAC engineering, carpentry, architecture, welding, etc.).
